What health knows.....

This began as a thought that I should create a post as a reminder that it's Women's Health Week. You know, get your checkups (that's important), and then, of course, I started pondering.

That pondering went: what is health → what are some different perceptions of health → I found that my definition of health connected to a number of my values → and landed with health looking like wisdom.

I wonder what health means to you?

How do you define your own health?

Health isn't the absence of illness. It's not perfect, and it's not fixed.

Health, for me, is a repertoire: the pause is one I return to often.

Time is held.

Overwhelm grounds.

Brings light to a problem, or space for a solution, or just space, if that's all that's needed.

It's rest, not earned but allowed.

It's a boundary held without guilt.

It's intuition, the boundary that knows what light to let in.

It's being informed, not kept in the dark.

Empowered, not managed.

It's movement that feels like joy, not another task to get through.

Curiosity instead of certainty.

It's laughing with a snort.

Delighting in small things.

Delishiness in simplicity.

Connection that holds you up before you even have to ask.

It's grace over forced positivity: meeting yourself wherever you actually are this season, not where you think you should be.

Health is something you tend to quietly, long before anything is diagnosed.

The quiet work no one applauds.

Let the light in.

Let it find you soft, not broken.

That, too, is health.

Start with your check ups, or come find your own pause.
